  47. DESCRIPTION

  49. Mac CallerID¬© is a shareware application that will display and
  50. store specific information provided by your local telephone
  51. company.  You must subscribe to your local telephone company‚Äôs
  52. ‚Äúcaller information and identification service,‚Äù commonly known
  53. as Caller ID.   This application is similar to the Caller ID
  54. boxes available in many stores, but is available at a fraction
  55. of the cost.  A lot of work went into the application, and
  56. hopefully you will agree that it is worth the nominal fee or
  57. more.

  59. The caller's name, number, date and time can be displayed as
  60. a single call or in a list of all calls.  Mac CallerID should
  61. work in the United States, Canada and Sweden.

  63. Mac CallerID¬©  REQUIRES THAT YOU ARE IN AN AREA WHERE CALLER ID
  64. IS AVAILABLE, YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER AND HAVE A MODEM THAT
  65. SUPPORTS CALLER ID.

  68. What is Caller ID?
  69.  
  70. Caller ID is a way for you to determine who is calling before
  71. you answer the phone.  Between the first and second rings,
  72. the phone company sends information about who is calling.
  73. Not all the information is always available, many times the
  74. call might have originated from an area that does not support
  75. Caller ID.  At other times the call may be blocked by the
  76. calling party.

  84. ‚Ä¢  Caller ID service must be provided by your local telephone

  88. Mac CallerID¬©  - STANDARD FEATURES (UNREGISTERED VERSION)
  89. ‚Ä¢  Mac CallerID¬© displays the complete telephone number, name,
  90.             area code, time and date of the call.
  91. ‚Ä¢  It can display a single call or a list of all calls.  All 
  92.    available information will be displayed.  Calls that have no 
  93.    data will not be displayed.
  94. ‚Ä¢  Calls with phone numbers can be dialed via the Macintosh
  95.    speaker or through the modem.
  96. ‚Ä¢  The Mac CallerID¬© database can be read into ClarisWorks or
  97.    another similar application to create an instant database of
  98.    callers.
  99. ‚Ä¢  New calls will be displayed automatically, you will be
  100.    notified by the flashing new call indicator in the top right
  101.    hand corner of the window.  Clicking any button or the new
  102.    call indicator will stop the indicator from flashing.
  103. ‚Ä¢  Metro Dialing Option, this enables you to dial a number that
  104.    requires an area code but does not need a 1 in front of the
  105.    number.  
  106. ‚Ä¢  Works in the United States, Sweden, Canada.  Tested in the 
  107.    following Canadian Provinces: Manitoba, Saskatchewan,
  108.    and Ontario.
  109. ‚Ä¢  Works with Supra, Zyxel, Motorola, and some Global Village 
  110.    modems and PowerBit V34.

  114. ‚Ä¢  Printing a single call or a list of all calls.
  115. ‚Ä¢  SubstituteCaller.  When a call comes in with a telephone
  116.    number and no name, Mac CallerID¬©  will attach the specified
  117.    name.
  118. ‚Ä¢  Find the next or previous occurrence of a name, phone
  119.    number or date in the database.
  120. ‚Ä¢  Many "Core" Apple Events are supported.  Supported events
  121.    from the "Core" suite are: count, delete, get data, get data
  122.    size.
  123.    Note "DELETE" will delete the specified call without
  124.    prompting the user.
  125.    Miscellaneous AppleEvents: InitModem and ReleaseModem.
  126. ‚Ä¢  Copy the currently displayed or selected caller information
  127.    to the clipboard.
  128. ‚Ä¢  PREFERENCES FEATURES:
  129.             ‚Ä¢  Replace displayed name with user specified name.
  130.       For example if a call comes in with XYZ company
  131.       303 123-1234, you can specify that the name be replaced
  132.       with Mr. Nobody.  This is done by adding the name and
  133.       number to the "SubstituteCaller" dialog.
  134.    ‚Ä¢  Hide or shrink the Mac CallerID¬©  window when the
  135.       application is in the background. 
  136.    ‚Ä¢  Bring Mac CallerID¬©  to the front when a call comes in.
  137.    ‚Ä¢  Delete all calls that do not have a number when quitting
  138.       the application.
  139.    ‚Ä¢  Delete all calls when quitting the application.
  140.    ‚Ä¢  Display the single or all calls view when starting
  141.       Mac CallerID¬© .
  142.    ‚Ä¢  Speak the name or number of the caller. 
  143.       Note you must have the Speech Manager Extension installed
  144.       to use this feature.
  145.    ‚Ä¢  Launch a specified application when a new call
  146.       comes in.
